DURATION: Minimum one hour train rental for all events. Our services may be rented up to 8 hours in a day per customer. (Additional time requested must be approved and reserved in advance). For reservations during weekdays between 9am-4pm, your reservation must meet the minimum criteria of $200 for rental equipment. See our games & activities page for rates.
DELIVERY FEE: Fees for delivery are based on distance from warehouse in Norfolk, VA. We only service the Hampton Roads area and in special arrangements, up to 1.5 hours travel time (not to exceed 90 miles) from our central location and a minimum reservation of $400 in rental equipment. Fees vary from $10 - $45 for travel. We do not do reservations outside of Hampton Roads for carnival games only.
TOLLS: Reservations will incur a tolls fee if event location requires travel of tolled tunnels or bridges.
DEPOSIT: 25% Non refundable deposit is required at time of reservation which must be at least 30 days prior to your event. Remaining payment due 2 weeks prior to event (or 30 days for high demand months).
HIGH DEMAND SEASONS: There are particularly seasons of the year in which we are most busy. During the months of May, June, September and October, our minimum weekend reservation is $200 per day for non-barrel train events. During October, the minimum week or weekend reservation for the barrel train is 4 hours per day. These months are very competitive and many organizations book vendors, attractions and other amusements months in advance to ensure their events are a success! If you have the flexibility to hold your event Monday - Thursday, then our standard minimum reservation rates apply.
Children must be supervised by an adult guardian while loading and unloading from the barrel train. The adult must also make sure the child is correctly in their seat belt.
All riders must remain seated with their hands inside or above the barrels at all times.
Children under 24 inches tall must be accompanied and ride in the lap of a parent or guardian. (Parents can use their discretion if child is capable of riding alone.)
No smoking, alcohol or pets are permitted on board.
Exit train only when the train has come to a complete stop at the loading/unloading zone, and after the attendant says to exit.
Spectators must remain clear of loading zone and train path.
The barrel train is pulled by a certified low speed vehicle (a golf cart). These vehicles are rated not to exceed 15 miles per hour, but we operate with lower speeds. All carts are equipped with seat belts for added safety. We have children, so safety, cleanliness and sanitation are of utmost importance to us. Each of our carts are cleaned and inspected between each event, so you can be confident that the unit is clean, sanitized and in good repair.
Our Barrels of Fun trackless train requires no tracks, giving our conductor the freedom to travel just about anywhere! We set up temporary safety barrier fencing surrounding the entire riding area. Ideally a 40 ft x 60 ft space is perfect for maximum fun and maneuvering of our ride. However, a minimum space of 30 ft x 50 ft will suffice.
The barrel train can journey on cement, asphalt, grass or pavement surfaces. The surface must be firm and dry. We will not operate on muddy, hilly or steep terrains. Events requesting longer then 6 hours must be on well seeded grassy areas or asphalt only. Dry, arid and thinly vegetated/sodded soil generates lots of dust which can get in the eyes of the children and our staff.
Colorful metallic pennants surround the riding space along with 15ft tall feather banners. We put up a sign that stands over the entrance to the train riding area and an enter/exit gate for safety. For public events requiring admission for train rides, our staff can collect tickets from riders.
Barrels of Fun provides 1 to 2 staff attendants and one train operator in order to ensure that your guests are safe while riding.
We are proud to offer special discounts to non-profit organizations and Church functions. We understand the challenges that non-profits have in getting the most out of their budget. As a non-profit, you can get up to $25 off of your total rental cost. Requesting a non-profit discount is simple. All you need to do is fill out our online order form along with providing your valid 501(c)(3) paperwork.
MILITARY & COMMAND FUNCTIONS
Any Military function, event or group. Active military members save up to 10% off standard rates. This offer is valid ONLY for active U.S. Military personnel. Valid military I.D. and papers are required at the time of contracting. Reserve units must have a command representative (Senior Enlisted or Officer) as the point of contact coordinating in order to qualify.
CHILD CARE CENTERS
Barrels of Fun provides a discount for state certified Child Care Centers when reservations are scheduled and paid 30 days in advance.
CAN CUSTOMERS RENT AND OPERATE THE BARREL TRAIN?
Unfortunately, no. For insurance reasons, we do not allow customers to operate the barrel train. Our operators are insured and qualified to operate the train.
HOW MANY RIDERS CAN YOUR TRAIN HOLD?
Our train currently has 5 carts. Each cart can hold 1 rider, or 1 adult and 1 small lap child. We DO NOT allow siblings to piggy back in one seat.
DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICE FOR BIRTHDAYS AND OTHER PRIVATE FUNCTIONS AT CITY PARKS?
Yes, we can! Please check with your park to ensure that trackless trains are permitted. We carry the proper insurances to operate in public parks, but that doesn't mean every park will allow a train. Most parks and associations in Hampton Roads require special permits and/or additional insurance to hold an event on their premises. The customer will assume the cost of any permits and licenses required by local and County ordinances.
CAN YOU OPERATE THE TRAIN INDOORS?
No. Since our train is gas powered, it is only for outdoor use.
DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS TO NON-PROFIT OR CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS?
Yes, we offer a discount to customers and organizations that qualify. Certain discounts are granted by request only and require official documentation to be approved. These include organizations that qualify as 501(c)(3) and requests from military commands on official Command letterhead. Discounts will only be given once per calendar year per organization.
